Accreditation
While there is no single accrediting body for TEFL, we have gone to great lengths to ensure we provide you with the best quality course there is. In fact, we have more accreditation than any other TEFL provider in the UK.
SQA
TEFL Scotland is an SQA Approved Centre
The SQA is an executive non-departmental public body (NDPB) sponsored by the Scottish Government Education Department. It is the national body in Scotland responsible for the development, accreditation, assessment and certification of qualifications other than degrees.
The overall aim of the SQA is to manage the qualifications system below degree level to allow students to fulfill their potential to participate in the economy, society and communities of Scotland.
We have been approved by SQA to deliver Unit 1 ( PDA Introduction to tutoring ESOL); an SQA accredited course.
Our SQA centre number is 3010171.
NCFE
NCFE has awarded TEFL Scotland with its Investing in Quality licence which gives formal recognition to our in-house programmes as being fit for purpose.
ODLQC
ODLQC was established by the government in 1968 to monitor quality in open and distance learning. Now, as a non-governmental organisation, it continues to oversee quality in training and education.
The ODLQC have strict standards to which course providers must conform. It’s not just the quality of our courses that the ODLQC assesses, but the whole process from start to finish. Our ODLQC accreditation means that our courses have passed a rigorous evaluation and continue to be monitored regularly.

Membership
The College of Teachers
TEFL Scotland is an institutional member of The College of Teachers. All members are required to abide by the College's Code of Practice. The Code of Practice promotes professional behaviour for members of the College. Central to the Code are respect for the individuality of the learner, and recognition of the collaborative nature of the profession of learning and teaching.
The College of Teachers is an examining body and learned society of teachers, professors and associated para-professionals in the United Kingdom and else where. The college was originally founded as the Society of Teachers in 1846. Today the college provides qualifications for teachers or trainers and para-educationalists including teaching assistants, governors and anyone else who is operating in a support capacity to teachers or trainers.
SATEFL
TEFL Scotland is a member of the Scottish Association for the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (SATEFL).
SATEFL is a forum for teachers and trainee-teachers to exchange ideas on TEFL related matters.
IATEFL
TEFL Scotland is an institutional member of IATEFL (Member number 19724)
IATEFL stands for the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language. Their aim is to link, develop and support English Language Teaching professionals throughout the world.
Awards
TEFL Scotland were proud winners of HBWCs Most Enterprising Business of the Year in March 2010. If you would like to find out more about the Highland Business Women's Club then visit their web site.
TEFL Scotland then went on to win ASB's Most Enterprising Business of the Year. The ceremony was held in Aberdeen in August and you can see pictures of the event here!
Know Before You Go - Stay safe overseas
We understand that everyone wants a trouble free experience when heading abroad. Many problems can be prevented with a few simple preparations before you travel.
