Teaching English in Venezuela
Posted by Erin MacKenzie - 15:22 on 01 April 2010
In Venezuela, English is required in a number of sectors and despite some rocky relations with the US in recent times there is still a great demand for English speakers in the country. English for business and tourism is becoming increasingly popular and most Venezuelan children receive some level of English education at primary school level.
Teaching in Venezuela is great for recently graduated TEFL teachers but don’t expect great wages – you are unlikely to be making a huge amounts of money. However, the chance to live in such a beautiful country is what is so attractive about Venezuela rather than the salary.
While most jobs are in cities like Caracas, where the majority of the population resides, beaches are never far with most of the main cities situated near the coastline. For beach-lovers Venezuela is an ideal destination with beautiful beaches along the coastline which is by both the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean. The country borders Brazil, Columbia and Guyana and has a diverse landscape which boasts amazing natural landmarks such as the world’s highest waterfall, Angel Falls.
