TEFL courses and jobs for teaching English abroad

Time to work abroad

2% of UK graduates go abroad in their first year out of university and while 54% of the UK population would like to live and work abroad only 0.4% actually do.

If you're thinking about doing it, well, now is the time to take the plunge and give it a go! September is the busiest time of the year for recruiting teachers so you need to get started!

Step 1
Your first step is to get on a TEFL course, this will not only let you know if teaching English is for you, but it will also give you the qualification you need to make your first job applications.

Step 2
Once you've enrolled on a course, you can start right away by re-working your CV and researching placements. You can even make initial job enquiries while you are waiting to go on your course.

Step 3
Having taken your course and received your certificate, you will be ready to make those full applications whether it's through TEFL England or independently. We will give you the advice and practical assistance you need, from supplying job contacts to reviewing your CV.

Step 4
Buy your ticket and pack!

Having been in the same situation (in Hull); wondering if teaching is for me, worrying about leaving everything behind. I found that just starting the process and just doing it was the only way. I thank my lucky stars I did decide to do it because otherwise I'd probably still be in Hull, now there's a thought.

To Joe Hallwood Hi Joe Would my northen accent and vowel sounds be a stumbling block in teaching foreign students...as i would obviously pronounce cup etc differently to southerners also.....is the accomodation continuous if you have a job or are you kicked out at the end of a contract? steve saunders Hi Steve Accents aren't an issue, it's more about how fast and audibly you speak and how you grade your language to the level of the students. If the accommodation is linked to the school then it will go with the job. A lot of teachers find their own accommodation though so it will depend on the circumstances. Cheers, Joe
