Hi all,

I've just completed the weekend course and looking at teaching in Leipzig in Germany's South East, Has anyone been there or have any experience with life in Germany outside of the teaching scene? Whats the Pay like? Is it a good country to live in, hard to adjust to, stuff like that. I have a contact in Leipzig, which is why i chose it, he said it a good town, but I wish to know all about it from people that have been to Germany. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt

I have just completed the weekend course too and am looking forward to starting my new life in Berlin! I lived in Germany for 3 years when i was a kid and the happy memories made an impression even tho i've moved about quite a bit, so i have been making an annual trip for the last few years - and am now certain thats where i want to be!

What can i say about germany, well, the people are very friendly and always willing to help you out if you are struggling with their language, the food is great, christmas is wonderful and traditional, you have glorious summers and thick snow in winter! As for berlin, it is a fantastic city for culture and diversity, the clubs are open until 8am, you can grab a 'curry wurst' on pretty much any street corner, and the germans transportation system is second to none as everything is so efficient. They have beautiful parks and such changes in the architecture due to the interesting history, which has changed the country with each event.

I wish you the very best in Germany and am sure that you will love it there!

Good Luck!

Just to echo what Sophie said above. Berlin is a really fantastic place to live, and I'd love to get back there and do a little EFL.

Any hints or tips as to schools or such?

(The one thing I fear is the papier. So much papier to do anything in Germany )
