TEFL Volunteering in Sri Lanka
We are currently recruiting TEFL volunteers to teach English in Sri Lanka, particularly in rural schools in the South, Central and Northern regions of the country. Sri Lanka has been described as the Island Jewel of the Indian Ocean featuring beautiful beaches, mountains covered in tea, ancient culture, wonderful food and very friendly people with a passion for cricket.
You (and if possible another TEFL volunteer) will be teaching English at girls and boys schools, focusing on Spoken English. At first you will be working with one of the school’s English teachers until you are comfortable to work on your own, which makes this an ideal position for a first time TEFL teacher. Students at the schools range from primary age to A-Levels, but teachers will be placed with an age group they feel comfortable with.
Volunteering gives you a chance to experience the customs, traditions and rich culture of Sri Lanka. You will also have sufficient time off to visit other parts of this beautiful country. This position does not involve any fees to be paid beyond your own expenses in travel, visas, insurance, spending money and a weekly payment of approximately £25 for the local host family to cover the cost of meals and utilities (if you are not hosted by one of the few schools that are able to bear the cost of this expense).

Teaching English in Sri Lanka – Volunteering
Contract: Beginning of June to the end of July 2011 and thereafter during the school terms, teaching Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 1:30pm and Saturday half day. Weekday afternoons will sometime involve running workshops for other English teachers.
Accommodation: Provided with suitable host families and the schools' premises, where possible.
Transport: To and from the airport
Visa: Assistance and advice offered in acquiring a visa, but costs to be paid by the volunteer
Medical: Cost of outpatients medical treatment paid
Additional benefits: Meals (local food) provided on the premises whilst teaching
