TEFL in Aberdeen
Nice to hear from you again.
Anne and I started a group in Aberdeen in January and we are enjoying teaching English very much. Currently we have around 11 with 8 coming on a regular weekly basis. They are mixed age group, mixed ability and mixed nationality- mainly Latvian but one Nigerian , one Malaysian and another Indian. They are keen to learn and friendly. I take the 'beginners' and Anne takes the rest, probably pre-intermediate - intermediate.
We have had flyers printed for the students to take away to give to their friends and are putting an advert in the local free community magazine. The web links you gave us have been useful and we have registered on a couple of sites which gives us access to lesson plans and worksheets.
Our church is very supportive and have given us a budget of £200p.a. so we have been able to purchase an extra flipchart stand , paper, pens and some board games and we can use their photcopying facilities.
I have spoken to a couple of people who are also running classes who have shared their ideas with us. All in all we feel things are going better than we thought they would.
Hope all is well with you and that your classes are going well too. We had contact with a couple of the ladies from our group around Christmas but nothing since.
Kind regards
Sandra Campbell (Nov 09 group Aberdeen)
