Further training and other teacher development opportunities are available to help you as you start teaching, and you will be working with an assistant teacher in and out of the classroom, so you will always have plenty of support.
Internships are a great way to use your TEFL certificate – programmes like these often arrange all of the details for you, taking the stress out of moving half way across the world! That way, you can head off to experience the wonders of China safe in the knowledge that you don’t have to worry about arranging accommodation, bills or visa paperwork. Internships are also great for your future career. If you want to continue with TEFL, these positions will also gain you a certificate from the Chinese government when you finish to attest to the number of teaching hours completed. In these positions, you’ll get valuable experience teaching both adults and children of a range of ages and levels.

Employers in any field recognise the value of internships and gaining real world work experience, and will be very impressed by the independence and adaptability shown by someone who has worked on the other side of the globe! Internships also offer a great way to teach in China without a degree.

Positions for these internships are mostly available in the south-east of China, in Jiangsu province and Shanghai. As an exceptionally well-connected part of the country, it’s easy to travel from here to visit other parts of China and all of the amenities you would need are in reach.
