TEFL jobs in Japan - Disaster Affected Areas
Our recruitment partner in Japan has asked us to assist in filling a need for teachers after the recent disasters. Many schools are being used as evacuation centres, while others are unable to use their buildings. A large number of children have been orphaned or relocated.
This is an opportunity to make a difference in a disaster hit region and to support Japanese children as their communities try to return to everyday life. These positions will offer long term support by helping to re-establish normal routines, so that children feel safe and secure as they and their communities recover.
In your English classes, you would be assisting children by establishing structure and routine. You will need a calm and positive manner, whilst still able to show sensitivity and extra attention to children dealing with difficult situations and feelings. With continuing infrastructure issues, these positions are best suited to teachers who are willing to forego some amenities that most would take for granted.
Our recruitment partner is looking for teachers who can arrive in Japan prior to 19th June 2011 (with necessary paperwork and permission to work). Training, ongoing support and a generous relocation package is offered. Candidates should be available to be assigned anywhere in Japan, including the four provinces most affected by the recent disasters (Miyagi, Iwate, Fukushima and Ibaraki). All positions will be outside of the 80km exclusion zone around the Fukushima Dai-ichi Power Plant.
