Rwanda, located in central East Africa, is known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills” and offers stunning scenery with majestic mountains and dense jungle. A forward looking country committed to peace and development, corruption and crime is much lower in Rwanda than in other parts of central Africa. There is plenty to do in Rwanda, whether you would like to go mountain climbing, watch rare mountain gorillas or just soak up the unique atmosphere of central Africa. These positions are based in the capital of Kigali, a small and attractive city in hilly country. It is a clean, safe and sophisticated African city in the centre of a quickly developing nation, with major new building projects bringing shopping malls, restaurants and hotels to the city. You would be teaching English to adults in small classes of 90-120 minutes, focusing on both basic English courses for levels up to intermediate and oral/written Business English classes for post-intermediate learners. English is being treated as a priority in Rwanda as it seeks to become a more competitive country in the global economy, meaning your work has a real chance to contribute to the future prospects of your students.

Teaching English in Rwanda

Salary: $700 USD per course, which lasts about 3 months. Teachers will be responsible for 2 or 3 courses. Total expected income over life of these courses: $2100 USD (Teachers will be paid in Rwandan francs)
