Finding your TEFL Job
The teaching work you'll find will vary hugely from country to country and will even vary from school to school.
Most of the TEFL jobs abroad are in small independent schools. These are usually small schools with a handful of teachers and the class-sizes are usually a maximum of 12 - 18 students. The schools could be attended by adults or youngsters and they might attend a couple of hours a week or a couple a day.
Some work is in state schools, often you will be working as a teaching assistant, alongside a native teacher. There is a lot of state school work in China, Japan and Western Europe. In China, class sizes can be anything up to 50 people.
There are also lots of opportunities for private teaching, usually set up by yourself after you arrive in a country. Volunteering by teaching English is another popular TEFL option. Find out more: How to Find a Teaching Job Abroad

“"TEFL has changed my life....an ambition that i wanted to fulfil for some 20 years or so. It is my passion! Can't wait to meet my prospective students...no matter which land! It has also taught me Grammar which I never learned in School. I would also love to open a school here in the East of Scotland through TEFL! We need it! Can't wait until I get my other two qualifications!"”
