History
Nepal’s history began in the 4th Century AD in the Kathmandu Valley where Newar settlers developed a Hindu-Buddhist culture. Later, Rajput warriors took over developing a Gurkha principality. They began expanding the borders of Nepal as we know today but eventually were defeated by northern India. Later Nepal lost parts of its territories to British India, although still keeping its independence. It now keeps close ties with Britain and India.
