The TEFL Scotland team has over 25 years experience in teaching English abroad, in the UK and teacher training. We want to enable others to have the fantastic experiences we have had by providing classroom courses or online courses that are accessible and affordable.

Accreditation

While there is no single accrediting body for TEFL, we have gone to great lengths to ensure we provide you with the best quailty course there is.

SQA

SQA is an executive non-departmental public body (NDPB) sponsored by the Scottish Government Education Department. It is the national body in Scotland responsible for the development, accreditation, assessment and certification of qualifications other than degrees.

The overall aim of the SQA is to manage the qualifications system below degree level to allow students to fulfill their potential to participate in the economy, society and communities of Scotland.

Our SQA centre number is 3010171.

ODLQC

ODLQC is the British government’s guardian of quality in open and distance learning. It was set up in 1968 to monitor and enhance quality in training and education.

The ODLQC have strict standards to which course providers must conform. It’s not just the quality of our courses that the ODLQC assesses, but the whole process from start to finish. Our ODLQC accreditation means that our courses have passed a rigorous evaluation and continue to be monitored regularly.

Membership

College of Teachers

TEFL Scotland is an institutional member of The College of Teachers. All members are required to abide by the College's Code of Practice. The Code of Practice promotes professional behaviour for members of the College. Central to the Code are respect for the individuality of the learner, and recognition of the collaborative nature of the profession of learning and teaching.

The College of Teachers is an examining body and learned society of teachers, professors and associated para-professionals in the United Kingdom and else where. The college was originally founded as the Society of Teachers in 1846. Today the college provides qualifications for teachers or trainers and para-educationalists including teaching assistants, governors and anyone else who is operating in a support capacity to teachers or trainers.

SATEFL

TEFL Scotland is a member of the Scottish Association for the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (SATEFL).

SATEFL is a forum for teachers and trainee-teachers to exchange ideas on TEFL related matters.

IATEFL

TEFL Scotland is an institutional member of IATEFL (Member number 19724)
IATEFL stands for the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language. Their aim is to link, develop and support English Language Teaching professionals throughout the world.

Know Before You Go - Stay safe overseas

Whatever your reason for travelling abroad, you're sure to want a trouble free trip. Many of the things that often go wrong for travellers can be prevented or made less stressful by taking a few simple precautions. So it makes sense to spend a little time getting prepared before you travel - you could save yourself a lot of problems later on.

With this in mind, we are working with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to help British nationals stay safe abroad. The FCO website offers straightforward travel advice, top tips and up to date country information to help you plan your holiday.
