TEFL Volunteering in Burma
50-hour TEFL Scotland Certificate
TEFL Scotland is currently recruiting for TEFL volunteers in Burma.
Burma offers many delights: jungles, mountains and unspoiled beaches are combined with a rich heritage and vibrant culture. Two millennia of Buddhist art, architecture and archaeology survive in the great Chindwin, Irrawaddy and Salween valleys, including 3000 standing monuments at Pagan.
Volunteering on the Thai-Burma border, you will be predominantly involved with English training programs and skills workshops. This position would best suit someone flexible as sometimes, volunteers may be asked to assist with other activities such as fundraising, multimedia communication or journalism.
Depending on where you are placed, you may be provided with free accommodation and meals. Living conditions are basic but clean, with 2 to 3 rice-based meals per day. In some circumstances organisations cannot host their volunteers, and in those cases, volunteers will have to pay for their own housing and meals. This scheme works with a number of host organisations in the border area. Specific host organisation details will be sent out after the security check is completed on orientation, due to the continuous changes to border security.
